Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Got Married...But At The Same Time ESPN Forgot Sports ExistedTaylor Swift & Travis Kelce Got Married at MSG: Enter celebrity row!

Apparently the biggest sports story of the weekend wasn't a blockbuster trade, a Game 7, an overtime thriller, or somebody getting arrested on social media.

Nope. It was that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married.

Congratulations, seriously. Good for them. I wish them nothing but happiness. But can somebody explain to me why every sports network treated this wedding like it was the second coming of Michael Jordan?

I turned on ESPN expecting football camp updates and somehow ended up watching TMZ with better graphics.

Who honestly cares who officiated the wedding? Adam Sandler? Great. Stevie Nicks sang? Awesome. Christian Dior made the tuxedo? Fantastic. Were they running a Cover-2 defense during the ceremony? Did Patrick Mahomes throw the bouquet? Did Jason Kelce shotgun a beer at the reception?

Every headline sounded like this:

"Tom Brady was there!"

"And Bradley Cooper!"

"Steven Spielberg!"

But did anybody catch a touchdown while they were there?

The media listed every celebrity in attendance like they were reading the credits after an Avengers movie. At one point I expected them to announce that Batman, Spider-Man, and The Easter Bunny all signed the guest book.

Meanwhile, NFL training camps are opening, baseball is heading toward the trade deadline, the NBA rumor mill is on fire, and somehow the lead story became, "Look who sat at Table 12!"

The only thing missing was ESPN showing the seating chart with advanced analytics such as, "Taylor's aunt had a 97.4 Wedding Efficiency Rating."

Look, I'm happy for Travis Kelce. The guy won three Super Bowls and somehow landed the biggest pop star on the planet. That's Hall of Fame production. And congratulations to Taylor Swift. Hopefully marriage is less dramatic than her last six albums.

But let's be honest: This wasn't sports news. Instead, this was People Magazine wearing shoulder pads. I don't need a 14-minute breakdown of the flower arrangements, I don't need to know which designer made the shoes, and I definitely don't need to know who walked down the aisle first. Unless Aaron Rodgers suddenly burst through the church doors yelling, "I'm signing with the Jets again!" I don't care.

The funniest part? The media acted like this wedding was classified by the CIA, implying "It's the most secretive wedding ever." Really? There were about 900 celebrities there. At that point, it wasn't a secret. It was the NFL Honors show with better catering.

Again, congratulations to the happy couple. May they have a long, healthy marriage. But sports fans...can we please get back to talking about sports?

I’m from a small town in Long Island. Growing up I was very competitive and very into sports. I followed teams like the Yankees, Jets, Knicks and the Islanders. I always had a love for sports, and my whole life I had dreams to become a professional athlete. However, this was short lived due to a knee injury. After many years of trying to figure out of what I wanted to do with my career, I found my true passion for radio. After college, I took part in a mentorship at CBS Sports Radio where I also had the opportunity to help produce with my mentor, Dan Schwartzman, host of “Going Deep” on NBC Sports Radio.
